PGA professional tuition
Our resident professional, Ron Macrow, offers friendly, expert tuition for adults and juniors, for complete beginners or for those refining their game.

Ron Macrow has been coaching golf for over 35 years and is also the Golf Academy Director for Bridgwater College. He spent five years in New Zealand as Southern Regional Coaching Director for the New Zealand Golf Foundation. Ron is a Fellow of the Professional Golfers Association and a qualified PGA Professional to Level 3.

Lessons

Adults:
One-to-one tuition (40 minute sessions): £20 (or £90 for 5 sessions).
Group sessions (one hour) mixed groups or ladies/gents only: £5 per person, (minimum 8 people, maximum 12 people).

Juniors:
Saturday morning sessions for 4-15 year olds - only £2 per child! Call Ron on 01278 655050 to register.

Bridgwater College's Cannington Centre run a range of courses for those training for careers in green keeping and sports turf management. The maintenance and management of the Cannington Golf Course provides the opportunity to these students to link their theoretical knowledge with actual practice.

The students are trained in the most up-to-date techniques and use highly sophisticated equipment. This, combined with recent substantial investment in the course by the College, has a direct benefit on our golfers.

Our greens are far superior to many you will find and maintained to a level not typical of a nine hole course.

Work-Based Horticulture (Sports Turf) Level 2 Diploma

Horticulture (Landscape Design, Sports Turf and Food Production) Level 3 Extended Diploma

The College also offers a number of short courses that provide quality professional development up update skills. Many of these courses run on demand, and can be specific to your needs.

Sports Academy at Bridgwater College

The Academy gives Bridgwater College students the opportunity to pursue their sporting aspirations alongside an academic or vocational qualification. The Golf Academy is one of seven sports academies that under 19s can take part in.

What makes us special?

• One of our players finished third in the Somerset Golf Union Boys Championships and winner of the West of England Championship 2009
• We are Somerset Schools Scratch & Handicap Champions
• Four of our players qualified for the Intercollegiate Tour Players Championship
• We were placed runners in the Inter-Collegiate Golf Tour 2008/09
• Two of our players qualified for the British Colleges Championships in 2008/09 season
